The over 300 foot transmission tower in the KBTX backyard is in its last few days of serving our station.
That's because construction workers are building a new transmission tower right next to the old one.
The current standing tower is what put News 3 on the air back in 1957. However, rusting of the metal showed it was time to put the historical structure to rest.
The new tower will actually stand 15 feet shorter.
