Local physicians are waging war against young people using tobacco.

The Brazos Family Medical Center is presenting Tar Wars, a tobacco education program.

On Wednesday doctors spoke at Crockett Elementary and warned students of the dangers of smoking.

Students asked questions and received information about the long term effects of tobacco use.

Doctors want to help adults as well. There will be a free smoking session support group starting Jan. 20.

It will run every Thursday after that for four weeks. The meeting will be held at the American Cancer Society and starts at 11:30 a.m.
