A Brenham native wants to return to the state appellate court he once presided over.

Attorney Rex Davis announced his candidacy Tuesday for justice of the 10th Court of Appeals. Davis served as chief justice of that court from 1996-2003.

The position he's seeking is currently held by Justice Bill Vance, but Vance is retiring at the end of this term. The Waco attorney touted his past experience on the court during today's announcement.

The 10th Court of Appeals encompasses 18 counties including Brazos, Burleson, Leon, Madison, Robertson and Walker.
