New Agreement for Animal Shelter

A new contract may mean fewer tax dollars will be used to support the Brazos Animal Shelter.

Tuesday, Executive Director Kelley Durham told the court the shelter will begin to rely on donations instead of the county's money to operate.

Since 1981, the shelter has used county and city money to keep the doors open.

Because Bryan has pulled it's funding, the shelter has begun to reorganize.

Under the new contract the county will only pay for services, and the remaining income will be up to the community to provide.

It'll be at least another week before commissioners approve the contract.
