After a week-long investigation, the Grimes County Sheriff's Office has arrested two jail employees for improper sexual activity with an inmate.

D'Andre Chatman of Navasota and Norman Minor of Bryan both turned themselves in Tuesday and admitted to having sexual contact with two of the female inmates.

The investigation began when a letter from one of the female inmates involved was read by another jailer.

Numerous jailers were interviewed and the investigation revealed Chatman and Minor were both engaging in improper sexual activity.

Grimes County Sheriff Don Sowell said Tuesday,"You have to entrust upon your employees the trust of the job they're supposed to be doing. Be it patrol, investigations or jail. And when they violate that trust it's disheartening."

The offense is a state jail felony punishable by up to 180 days to two years in a state jail and a fine of up to $10,000.

The offenders could also get up to five years probation, if eligible.
