Battling blazes in Huntsville just got a little better. After months of discussion, city council finally approved the purchase of a new ladder truck. The 100 foot platform truck should arrive by next March or April.

For nearly three years the city has been unable to reach buildings taller than two stories, posing safety issues for a dozen buildings in Huntsville.

The truck cost nearly $800,000, and the city will pay for it over the next 10 years.

Fire Chief Tom Grisham says he is excited about the new addition. When the truck arrives, firemen will train with it for a week, and then it will be put to service.
