Local Law Enforcement Returns from Inauguration

Updated: Fri 6:00 PM, Jan 21, 2005

Yesterday's inauguration had a distinct Texas flavor to it, and some of the area's finest law enforcement played a big part in the celebration.

More than 100 authorities returned home this afternoon after providing security for a block of Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, DC. Members of Bryan and College Station PD, the sheriff's and constable's office and University Police all participated.

Although the temperatures were quite a bit colder in the nation's capital, the group was happy to have the opportunity.

"I think it's going to be a dramatic impact on their life, their career," said Lt. David Drosche of Brazos County Sheriff's Office, who was one of the organizers of the event. "It was a great opportunity for them."

Another organizer, Sgt. Leslie Hicks of College Station PD, said, "We were really excited when we saw the Aggie band coming through and got to take pictures, but we were having to keep our eye out on the crowd for the most part. But we were glad to see so much from Aggieland."
