The U-S Supreme Court has stayed Friday's scheduled execution of Texas convicted killer Troy Kunkle.

Kunkle was condemned for the 1984 slaying of a man in Corpus
Christi.

Stephen Horton was shot to death during a robbery in an act
prosecutors say Kunkle related to the song "No Remorse" by the
heavy metal rock group Metallica.

It was the second stay of execution this year for Kunkle.

Word of the latest stay reached Texas prison officials about 40
minutes after Kunkle could have been put to death. The vote was
5 to 4.

Justices in July also blocked Kunkle's scheduled execution,
although that ruling came about nine hours before the inmate was
scheduled to die.

The high court last month had refused to review his case.
