A sole finalist for Texas A&M University's next president could be named this week.
Texas A&M System Board of Regents will meet in closed session on Thursday to discuss the presidential search, including possible action to name a finalist or finalists.
Texas A&M has been without a president since Robert Gates left to become U.S. Secretary of Defense. Ed Davis, president of the Texas A&M Foundation, has been serving as interim president of the university.
Regents will also consider some athletics-related personnel issues, including authorizing a contract for new head football coach Mike Sherman, a buyout agreement with former head football coach Dennis Franchione, and an amended contract with head baseball coach Rob Childress.
While the Board of Regents will first meet on Thursday, they are not expected to take any action until Friday.
