Bryan fire officials fought off an apartment fire Thursday night. A pair of good samaritans helped a resident live.
Around 5:45 p.m., a resident at the Bryan Heights Apartments on Sims and a passerby smelled smoke. They found an apartment on fire, and a resident unconscious inside.
The duo pulled the man to safety as fire crews arrived on scene and put the fire out. The cause is under investigation, and the residence suffered significant damage in the bedroom, where it is believed the fire started.
The unidentified victim was conscious and breathing when crews got there, just suffering from smoke inhalation. He was transported to St. Joseph as a precaution.
The good samaritans are also as yet unidentified.
