It was a big bust Thursday for the Bryan Police Department.
The Drug Enforcement Team intercepted about 30 pounds of marijuana. The FedEx shipment was on a cross-state trip from Mission, Texas to Bryan by way of Houston.
"This is the first time that anyone has been caught shipping drugs through a mail service, and of course this is a pretty sizeable amount," Lesley Malinak with the Bryan Police Department said. "It's more than what we are use to seeing here in Bryan."
A tip from the Houston Police Department Narcotics Division led Bryan police to the FedEx in College Station. That is where a drug dog sniffed out three packages containing a combined $80,000 worth of pot.
The packages were seized and delivered to three separate addresses, one of which was 1101 Hazel in Bryan
Jose Juan Lugo-Pulguero was arrested after accepting one of the packages. Lugo-Pulguero is charged with possession of marijuana in a drug free zone, a second-degree felony. If convicted, Lugo-Pulguero could face up to 20 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
The investigation is on-going.
