Milam County's Sheriff's department is still investigating after the shooting of a young woman Tuesday night.
Forty-one-year-old Ben Contreras of Hearne is charged with murder in the death of his estranged girlfriend, 23-year-old Stephanie Young.
He is also charged with two counts of attempted murder of Young's mother and stepfather, Gail and Preston Solomon.
Police say Mr. Solomon was severely beaten and Mrs. Solomon was shot in the chest and arm.
Both remain at the Scott and White in Temple in stable condition. While the incident is still under investigation, police say they believe Contreras and Young's family were involved in some sort of dispute.
