It's a no go for a proposed sex offender rehabilitation center in Milam County.
The treatment center, which would have been the first of its kind in the state, was turned down by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice because it felt it was too experimental to fund.
County officials originally planned to renovate an old jail facility and house 30 to 40 offenders at time, but later officials realized that a newer facility would be needed.
Without the money, the project will not move forward.
At this time, Milam County authorities say they will not try reapplying for funding.
