A prominent figure at Texas A&M is back home from an international conference in Bangkok.

Texas A&M Executive Vice President and Provost, David Prior participated in the conference sponsored by the Thailand government. The group discussed post-tsunami rehabilitation and the development of a regional tsunami early-waring system.

"Another level of warning is how do you transmit the information from these regional systems down to people actually on the ground, and one of the things we learned a great deal about is that that's not going to be so easy," said Prior.

Prior said he chaired a committee that submitted 50 recommendations for reconstructing the ravaged land and that the group will meet for another meeting in two months.
