A man who told police he was trying to kill himself has been arrested in connection with Friday's fire at a Bryan apartment building.
The fire started about 4 PM in the 500 block of Foch when the man apparently lit newspapers on fire inside his apartment, but decided against suicide and got out. Investigators say the 39-year-old was arrested on an emergency mental commitment.
The fire damaged several apartments. Neighbors who saw the blaze went door to door and managed to get everyone out safely.
