A FLASH FLOOD WATCH is in effect for Austin, Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Houston, Lee, Madision, Montgomery, San Jacinto, Trinity, Walker, Waller, & Washington Counties until 8am Saturday morning.
Confusion over the FutureGen announcement has finally been cleared. The winning site will be named December 18 as originally planned.
Tuesday the FutureGen Alliance said the Department of Energy had asked that the announcement be postponed. But it turns out that wasn't the case so the big reveal is back on the books for Tuesday.
FutureGen is a billion-dollar, clean-burning coal plant expected to pump millions into the economy of the community that gets it. And supporters of the Jewett site feel good about their chances. "We think we're going to win quite frankly," said Michael Parks, Brazos Valley Council of Governments. "We put a lot of work into this, a lot of effort. We have no knowledge of that for sure, but you know what? We're optimistic. We've done a lot of work and we're hopeful it's going to pay off."
The other three finalists are Odessa; Matoon, Illinois and Tuscola Illinois.
