A pair of former Normangee city officials are out on bond following their arrest for third-degree felony theft by a public servant.
Ex-mayor Tim Taylor and former city secretary Heather Spikes were indicted Thursday by a Leon County grand jury. Taylor voluntarily turned himself in while Spikes was arrested at her home.
The arrests followed a lengthy investigation by the Texas Attorney General's Office which began July 26th. That was the same day Taylor and Spikes resigned.
The Attorney General's office refused to comment on the case. However, Normangee officials said investigators were particularly interested in city financial records.
