A fire at a Madison County prison kept firefighters busy throughout Thursday night. Flames broke out around 8 p.m. at the Texas Department of Corrections Ferguson Unit located at Midway.

The fire was contained to the prison's mop and broom factory which was vacant at the time. Volunteer firefighters were able to get it under control, but the flames continued to flare up throughout the evening.

No injuries have been reported. The fire is believed to have started in some electric wiring.
