The board is expected to authorize A&M President R. Bowen Loftin to take any action regarding the university's athletic conference alignment. Reports have A&M looking to depart the Big 12 and join the Southeastern Conference.
Sunday, following a meeting of presidents and chancellors of SEC schools, the conference reaffirmed its commitment to 12 teams, but left the door open for future admissions.
Also on the agenda is the possible selection of a new A&M System chancellor. Jay Kimbrough has been filling the role following the departure earlier this summer by Mike McKinney. Former comptroller John Sharp has been rumored to be a finalist for the job.
