The Brenham city council is searching for a new city attorney. Former city attorney, Randall Patterson was laid off Thursday because the city is going to contract his job to a private firm.
The council made that choice in a 5 to 2 vote.
Officials said the move will reorganize city operations and save them money.
In the next two months, the city council is expected to consider more lay-offs in an effort to trim spending by 5%. A list of positions to be considered for the cuts is still in the making.
