The cause of a Wednesday afternoon apartment fire in College Station is under investigation.
The blaze broke out just after 4:15 p.m. at the Willowick Apartments in the 400 block of Southwest Parkway.
When firefighters arrived, smoke was coming from the first floor unit. The resident inside was able to escape without injury. No one in the surrounding apartments was home at the time.
The residence where the fire began suffered fire damage, while the two apartments above sustained smoke damage.
The residents displaced by the fire are getting help from Willowick management, the American Red Cross and the fire department's Community Action Response Team (CART).
The cause of the blaze is currently under investigation by the Fire Marshal's Office.
