A local economic development group is changing its guidelines to raise the bar for new companies in the Brazos Valley.
Brazos County commissioners gave the Research Valley Partnership the go-ahead to require new businesses to export 70 percent of their goods and services if they are in competition with an already established business.
The Research Valley partnership says this may attract big businesses that can boost the economy without hurting local business owners.
Incentives would be offered to companies who qualify under the new guidelines.
