One Dead, One Injured in Bryan Hit and Run

One Bryan woman is dead and another seriously injured after a hit-and-run just before 2008 began.

Around 11:30 p.m. Monday, Bryan Police were called out to the 1500 block of Ursuline, which is just north of Sue Haswell Park.

Yvonne Zaragoza and Esther Gonzales were reportedly walking westbound. A vehicle heading in that direction hit both women, then drove away.

Both victims were taken to St. Joseph Regional Health Center. The 28-year-old Zaragoza died of her injuries there.

Gonzales, 30, was last listed in critical condition. Authorities say she suffered two broken legs, among other injuries.

Bryan Police say they do not have a description of the vehicle in question.
