12THMAN License Plate Sells for $115K at Auction

How much would you pay for a license plate? It might depend on what the plate reads, but one driver will be sporting one that likely cost more than the vehicle that sports it.

As part of an online auction benefiting the Texas A&M general fund, a Texas plate reading "12THMAN" went for $115,000 when it concluded at noon Thursday

Two hours earlier, the plate was at a mere $42,000.

The winner was Tony Buzbee, who MyPlates.com says is a Houston attorney and retired Marine Corps officer. He reportedly is going to give the plate to a fellow Aggie who is a war veteran.

"I see him as a 12th Man to our country," Buzbee told MyPlates.

The bidding began August 12.
