Updated: Sat 7:09 PM, Dec 15, 2012

Three days before graduation day for the fall semester, Texas A&M celebrated 12/12/12 on the calendar. The 12th Man added another significant 12 to its year Saturday.

With 3,775 degrees conferred to graduates, the university handed out more than 12,000 degrees in a calendar year for the first time ever.

In all, 12,116 bachelor, master's and doctoral degrees were earned on the College Station campus. When counting the Galveston and Qatar campuses, that number grows to 12,593.

In a press release, A&M President R. Bowen Loftin said it is "gratifying to be a state, national and international leader in producing a high level of well-qualified young men and women for the workforce, entering the military or for continuing their studies through graduate or professional degree programs."
