One Suspect Killed in Standoff at Bryan Restaurant

Bryan Police continue their investigation Monday afternoon into a shooting and standoff that left one man dead.

It happened just before 10 o'clock Sunday night.
Police were called to a robbery at the Taqueria Arandas Mexican Restaurant on Texas Avenue.

When police arrived, two robbers with guns came out of the building with a hostage.

Bryan Police shot and hit the two suspects.

One of them died. The other is in serious condition at St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

The hostage, Santo Reyes, 38, an employee at the restaurant, was shot in the arm by the gunmen and is listed in fair condition.

Three other employees were held hostage inside the restaurant. Two of them were assaulted by the suspects and treated at the hospital.

Police have not released the names of the two gunmen.

Police were processing the crime scene Monday afternoon.

As a result, part of Maloney Avenue from Carson Street to Duncan Street remained closed.

Six Bryan police officers have been placed on administrative leave pending a criminal and internal affairs investigation.
