During Sunday's ordeal, one restaurant worker was taken hostage and wounded.

"When they came inside, I saw one of the men beat up my co-workers and the other one pulled a gun on me," says Santo Domingo Reyes, an employee at Taqueria Arandas.

Thirty-eight-year-old Reyes was one of the four hostages held at the Taqueria Arandas restaurant Sunday night after a failed robbery turned fatal. The two men entered the restaurant and started beating up two of Reyes' coworkers. One of the men pulled out a gun.

"The gunman took us into the freezer and left us in there. I assume he went to the cash register," says Reyes.

Reyes was pulled from the freezer and before he knew it, there were gunshots. Police say he was shot once. The bullet pierced his shoulder, traveled through his other shoulder, and finally lodged in his wrist.

Reyes adds, "They took me to the front with a gun to my head and opened the door, took me outside towards the police, and I was shot."

Reyes also suffered head injuries after being clubbed by the suspects. He's in fair condition at St. Joseph.
