The city of Bryan is playing host to a conference aimed at preparing fathers for success.
The conference offers training on how fathers can be more actively involved in their child's life and their community. Participants from seven different states took part in the training.
The founder of the Center for Successful Fathering shared techniques for creating father involvement programs.
Organizers say this will help with planning for a local program.
"If we can do some significant training for fathers in this community to let them know how important they are and help them with the skills to be successful, we think it's going to benefit or kids tremendously," said Ronnie Jackson with Bryan's Neighborhood/Youth Services.
The conference wraps up on Friday.
