If you haven't gotten around to taking down your Christmas tree, here is some incentive.
You can have your Christmas tree recycled for free from noon to 5p.m. Saturday, January 5th.
In Bryan, you can drop off your tree at Sue Haswell Park off of William Joel Bryan Parkway, and in College Station you can do the same at Central Park off of Krenek Tap Road.
Every resident who brings in a tree Saturday will receive a free Shumard oak tree seedling.
You are asked to remove all ornaments, nails, etc. prior to dropping off their tree. Exchange seedlings will only be available during the Saturday event at the parks only.
If you are unable to make the scheduled drop off date at the park, trees will still be accepted free of charge at:
1. Bryan Compost Facility: Monday - Saturday, 8 am - 5 pm (2988 Pleasant Hill Road, off Sandy Point Road)
2. BVSWMA Landfill: Monday - Friday 7 am - 5 pm, Saturday 7 am - 1 pm (7600 Rock Prairie Road)
3. Bryan and College Station will pick up trees on the normal yard waste collection days for duplexes, fourplexes, and single family dwellings.
The primarily reason to have Christmas tree recycling is to save space in the landfill by diverting Christmas trees to other uses and to raise awareness of recycling opportunities.
Trees collected in Bryan will become part of the recycling effort at the compost facility. Trees collected in College Station will be chipped and used throughout the Parks System
The Christmas tree recycling program is sponsored by the cities of Bryan and College Station, Texas Forest Service, Brazos County 4-H Equestrian Club, The Eagle, and Keep Brazos Beautiful.
