The future of a Madisonville police officer has been decided. He is no longer with the city.
A letter from the city was sent to Navarro's home stating he had resigned and it was in the best interest for the city that he not be rehired.
Navarro's lawyer says the former policeman was offered a severance package if Navarro agreed to sign a resignation letter, but he refused. Navarro says he was fired from the force after calling in the Texas Rangers to investigate allegations that his four-year-old daughter was sexually assaulted.
The case involving Navarro's daughter has been turned over to the Madisonville District Attorney's Office. They are still awaiting psychiatric testing on the 14-year-old junior high student before any hearing dates are set.
