Jackson Trial Starts

By  |

Michael Jackson has arrived at a California courthouse, where prosecutors and defense lawyers will be presenting opening statements in his child molestation trial.

There was no crowd of fans to greet him today -- just a couple of demonstrators supporting the prosecution's case. They shouted,
"No sex with kids" -- and had a sign that read, "Stop child abuse."

Jackson's credibility -- and that of his accuser's family -- will be at issue, as the two sides present dramatically different versions of Jackson's encounters with a young cancer patient.

Prosecutors will talk of a 13-year-old boy who got his wish to meet one of his idols -- only to see it turn into a nightmare of sexual abuse and imprisonment at Jackson's home.

Defense lawyers will portray the victim's mother as a money-hungry liar -- presenting evidence that she has sued others in the past, claiming abuse.
