Brazos Valley Burn Bans: The following counties are under a Burn Ban: Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Houston, Lee, Leon, Madison, Milam, Robertson, San Jacinto, Trinity, Walker, Washington
It was a tough decision but the Jefferson Award board of selectors has chosen four award recipients out of a field of 13.
The 2005 Jefferson Award winners from the Brazos Valley are:
Retired Bryan teacher and founder of the Brazos Valley African American Museum, Mell Pruitt.
Ethel Clark has also been chosen as a Jefferson Award recipient. Miss Clark is a longtime Bryan volunteer.
Local veterinarian Doctor Alice Blue-McLendon is also a recipient. She's the founder of Voices For Children and the Brazos County chapter of CASA.
The final recipient is 17 year old Bryan High School junior Audra Smith. Audra has nearly 600 community service hours and owns her own business.
Learn more about these four recipients when we profile them each Wednesday in March beginning on the 9th.
Then join News 3 April 5th at 9pm in a live telecast, when we recognize the achievements of the four recipients, and learn which one will be heading to Washington for national Jefferson Award consideration.
