Hiring Panel Interviews College Station Fire Chief Candidates

By: Carly Kennelly

The five finalists for College Station's fire chief were in town Thursday night.

The candidates finished one of two days in which they are interviewing with a hiring panel. College Station narrowed the candidate list down from 50 applications. The next step is to select two finalists.

"We're looking for a fire and EMS professional that has a solid track record in that field. We're also looking for somebody who has strong people skills and enjoys developing the employees and people around them and has a desire to innovate and provide the best fire and EMS service here in the community possible for our citizens," said city manager Tom Brymer.

The selected candidate will replace David Giordano, who has been with the fire department since 1977 and has served as Chief since 1997.
