Female teachers romantically involved with male students. A disturbing national trend that's been making headlines at schools across the country.
Now it appears it may have happened here in the Brazos Valley.
Madisonville police confirm an investigation is underway into an alleged inappropriate relationship between former Madisonville High teacher Erica Gafford and a male student.
Gafford resigned her teaching post last week citing personal reasons. Police Chief George Sweetin says investigators are talking to school faculty and students to determine if any charges will be filed.
Calls to the superintendent were not returned and a school board member refused to comment.
