WATCHES AND WARNINGS

Animal Shelter Will Continue Seizures

By: Lindsay Liepman
Video will be available shortly

The tug-of-war between the Brazos Animal Shelter and county officials has finally ended with both sides getting a part in Animal Control.

Tuesday, County commissioners voted to amend its five year old contract with the shelter.

The shelter will be allowed to conduct small animal seizure like dogs and cats but the Sheriff's office will be responsible for livestock seizures.

For the past couple of weeks, the shelter and commissioner's court have debated who should have the power to seize.

The shelter has come under fire for several livestock seizures that some commissioners felt was unnecessary.

The changes to the contract will be final once the Animal Shelter Board approves it.
