ALVIN, Texas -- A couple from Mexico and their three children died Monday when their mobile home caught fire in a dilapidated trailer park near Alvin.
Brazoria County Fire Marshal Al Priselac says the blaze appears to have started in a bedroom or in the kitchen. The exact cause is pending.
Family members identified the couple as 33-year-old Ignacio and 26-year-old Rosa Contreras.
The Houston Chronicle reports the children were seven-year-old Yazmin Reyes, four-year-old Ignacio Junior and one-year-old Vincente.
Relatives say Ignacio Contreras worked as a roofer.
Family members also say the Mexican couple had a common-law marriage and were not U.S. citizens.
The Ashley Oaks trailer park about 30 miles south of Houston housed mostly Hispanic residents.
Managers of the park didn't immediately comment.
