Battle Over Office Space Leads to Lawsuit

A spat over space has resulted in a lawsuit against the Grimes County commissioners court. County Auditor Buck LaQuey filed the suit after commissioners booted him out of his new office.

Commissioners say they had to free up office space for the newly-created 506th District Court. But LaQuey's suit claims commissioners not only abused their discretion, but also stuck him with an office too small for him to do his job.

He's seeking a temporary restraining order which would allow him to stay put. Both sides will meet this week to try to reach a compromise.
