UNDATED (AP) - Blood continues to spill along the Mexican side of the Rio Grande.
Two Mexican federal agents were killed and three more were wounded in a gunfight late Tuesday with a group of suspects in the border city of Reynosa, about 20 miles southwest of McAllen.
That shootout comes after the arrests of three U.S. residents and seven other suspects in a deadly Monday shootout just across the border from Texas.
Mexican officials say the 10 are suspected members of the powerful Gulf drug cartel.
The gunfire, which left three people dead, broke out when Mexican federal agents chased a van full of people carrying assault weapons in front of the police station in Rio Bravo, Mexico, about 15 miles south of McAllen.
Federal officials say the army and federal police sent reinforcements after the suspects took shelter and began detonating grenades.
Officials say the three killed in that exchange were among the suspects.
The 10 arrested including three suspects from the United States.
Mexican official identified them as Ricardo Zamora Lopez and Jose Raul Gonzalez Sanchez, both of Detroit, and Esteban Valdez de los Santos of Texas. No other hometown was provided.
