A man police say was severely beaten by his daughter's ex-boyfriend last month has died in a Temple hospital.
Fifty-nine-year-old Preston Solomon died at Scott & White Hospital Wednesday night.
Last month, 41-year-old Ben Contreras allegedly shot and killed his former girlfriend, Stephanie Young, after holding her and her three children hostage at her home in Minerva.
The Milam County Sheriff says Contreras beat Young's father, Preston Solomon, with a hammer. Solomon's wife Gail was also shot.
Contreras remains in the Milam County Jail on a $400,000 bond.
