Wednesday, Jan. 19
12 p.m. - Opening Ceremony (MSC Flag Room)

MSC Diversity presents Campus With a Dream 2005 celebrating the life and dream of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., in an effort to remind the A&M campus that the dream lives on in all of us. During the Opening Ceremony Mark Ilg, an environmental safety specialist for Texas A& M, will perform Dr. King’s famous “I Have a Dream” speech.

Mr. Ilg originally memorized the speech as a high school student and has gone on to recite the speech several times during his military career before being hired on at Texas A&M in August. This will be a special ceremony you don’t want to miss!

Thursday, Jan. 20
7 p.m. - “A Night of Jazz ” (J. Wayne Stark Galleries)

MSC Woodson Black Awareness, MSC Town Hall, MSC Diversity and the J. Wayne Stark Galleries present “A Night of Jazz.” The evening will feature local singer Karan Chavis, pianist Peter Lieuwen from The Big Apple Trio, female poet Liquid Moon and A&M student groups. The first 100 guests receive a coffee mug commemorating the evening and Duncan Dining Hall graciously agreed to provide the coffee.

Friday, Jan. 21
7 p.m. - Campus with a Dream Aggie Nights (MSC and Rudder)

The Southwestern Black Student Leadership Conference (SBSLC) attendees will be participating in Aggie Nights and hosting a Variety Show in the Auditorium. The movie “Eyes On The Prize” will also be showing in the MSC Flag Room until the Poetry Slam Contest begins around 9:30 p.m. The traditional Aggie Nights activities will still be available such as free bowling, billiards, arts and crafts, food and drinks.

Monday, Jan. 24
11:30 a.m. - “Is the American Dream Still Alive?” (204E Evans Library)

A&M’s Race and Ethnic Studies Institute (RESI) and MSC Woodson Black Awareness Committee present a panel discussion, “Is the American Dream Still Alive?” The program will be moderated by Dr. Jay Arekere from (RESI). Panelist include: Dr. Karen Butler- Purry, Dr. Manuel Pina, Dr. Paul Parrish, Whitney Legget, Amanda Payne and Sarah Pena. A light lunch will be served.
