Some local grocery stores are souping up efforts to stock the shelves of the Brazos Valley Food Bank.
H-E-B and Kroger food stores are teaming up to collect canned goods for the Souper Bowl of Caring fundraiser.
The food drive encourages residents to drop off non-perishables, purchase a pre-packaged food bag to donate or make a cash donation at one of the 6 participating H-E-B and Kroger stores.
The food drive started January 10 and continues through Super Bowl Sunday on February 3.
"Super Bowl weekend is usually a big weekend for us which generates a lot of traffic, so we're hoping during that high traffic time that we're able to raise some food," Larry Medearis from Kroger Signature Store in Bryan said.
All of the proceeds will benefit the Brazos Valley Food Bank.
