Florida authorities want to question a registered sex offender in a young girl's disappearance

Police now say a "person of interest" in the disappearance of the the nine-year-old girl is getting "more and more interesting." Jessica Lunsford disappeared from her bed on February 23rd.

Citrus County Sheriff Jeff Dawsy says John Couey is a registered sex offender who lived within "eyeshot" of the child's home.

Dawsy says Couey left the area without giving a forwarding address. He was interviewed by police in Savannah, Georgia, but was released because he couldn't be held on a Florida warrant for probation violation for marijuana possession.

That warrant has since been upgraded, and another warrant has
been added because of Couey's failure to notify authorities he had
moved. His criminal record includes multiple arrests for burglary,
carrying a concealed weapon, indecent exposure, disorderly conduct
and larceny.
