A trashy crime may have landed a Brenham man in hot water with his military employers.
A Brenham woman called authorities to report a neighbor had been dumping garbage on her property. Police say upon searching the trash, they found evidence leading to Jason Stone.
When they did a check on the 27-year-old, they found out he had deserted the Marine Corps. He was taken into custody and transported to the Washington County Jail, where federal authorities later picked him up.
No word on how long Stone had been AWOL.
Authorities say Stone was a Brenham native who had gone through the high school's ROTC program.
