The mayor of the South Texas town of Alice has been indicted after neighbors say she took their dog while she cared for it during their vacation.

Grace Saenz-Lopez was indicted Friday on two felony counts of
tampering with physical evidence related to the Shih Tzu, according
to jail records.

A jail official said Saenz-Lopez and twin sister Graciela Garcia, who was indicted on a similar felony charge, had been released on bond.

The dog was found at Garcia's house.
