Northgate Drinking Ban Passed

By: Lindsay Liepman
Video will be available shortly

Drinking on the Northgate Promenade will soon be a tradition of the past.

College Station City Council members approved a recommendation by police to ban open containers on the promenade.

But there are exceptions to every rule.

The city would like to fence off part of the promenade for special events that would allow open containers.

That will come at a price though.

Permits from both the city and TABC will be required.

The council plans to meet with Northgate merchants to designate an area.
