On 2/15/2012 at approximately 0029 hours College Station Police responded to the 600 block of Holleman Dr. East for a reported unconscious person. Upon arrival, Officers located an unconscious female inside of a vehicle. During their investigation, they learned that the female was intoxicated and had fallen asleep in her parked vehicle. The female was subsequently arrested for Public Intoxication.
While placing the female in custody, she advised the arresting Officers that her 18-month-old child was at her residence alone. Officers immediately responded to the female’s residence, located in the 1200 block of Milner in College Station, to check the child’s welfare. Upon arrival, they located the female’s child alone in the residence. Further investigation revealed that the female had left her child unsupervised for approximately 2 ½ hours. The female was additionally charged with Abandoning or Endangering a Child.

Abandoning or Endangering a Child is a State Jail Felony and is defined as: A person commits an offense if, having custody, care, or control of a child younger than 15 years, he intentionally abandons the child in any place under circumstances that expose the child to an unreasonable risk of harm. This offense is punishable by a term of 180 days to two years imprisonment and a fine not to exceed $10,000.
