A screening of the documentary, "For the Bible Tells Me So", is being brought to College Station by United Campus Ministry.

The group hopes the film will encourage discussion about the church and homosexuality, and what that has meant for families and their gay children.

At the conclusion of the event there will be 30 minutes available for discussion led by Equality Texas and a viewing of a 5 minute film by a Texas A&M student entitled "Being a Gay Aggie".

This documentary won the "Audience Award for Best Documentary" at
the Seattle International Film Festival.

It will be shown at Friends Congregational Church on Thursday, January 31, at 6:30 p.m.

Yes, Jesus came in contact with sinners every day just like you and I do each day. God sent him to earth so that he could seek out and save sinners. He never missed an opportunity to extend to them his love and forgiveness. He was not approving their sin, but offering them the solution to getting their lives right with God. Homosexuality is a sin according to the Bible, but so is cheating, stealing, and lust. We need to extend the love of God and his Son to all sinners. We need to follow his example. Invite all people to his table and encourage each to dine with Jesus and then to go and sin no more. Always remember the sin that resides in each of us before condemning our fellow men.

What does a hot dog and a bun have to do with anything?

Remember what Jesus did and how he taught others? He dined with and had conversations with those considered sinner. Instead of condemming them, he first sought to change their behavior by not openly criticizing them but by invitation to sit with him and seek the truth and to "go and sin no more". This is how we should all teach others! This is how we should all live our own lives.

It makes me smile to see freedom of speech in action, regardleess of personal beliefs. I just hope this film doesn't promote the exclusion of any person from being treated with kindness and diginity, values that in my opinion supercede personal choice or lack of personal choice. I will not attend, my beliefs are everyone deserves our kindness, without kindness condemnation and judgement are inevitable.

Have you ever ordered a hot dog at the movie theater or a sporting event? The hot dog comes with a bun. I wonder why?

The Bible is very clear on homosexuality. It is a detestable sin in the eyes of God and no amount of attempted rewriting of God’s word is going to change that. It is no surprise that a film like this is popular at film festivals and well received by the so called “critics.” Both love films with anti-Christian themes.
