Brazos Valley Council of Governments

The Brazos Valley Council Governments is looking to add a new member.

Earlier this week BVCOG representatives meet with Walker County commissioners to discuss the move.

Council of governments work together to get state funding to benefit their region.

Currently Walker County is a member of the Houston/ Galveston Council., but BVCOG believes the county is more similar to the seven counties in the Brazos Valley council.

"It would give us a lot of political strength and recognize that this area of Texas is a leader in education and research and so it would be an exciting addition not a detraction from either," said Tom Wilkinson, BVCOG Executive Director.

Walker and Brazos County have worked together before with TX-DOT and ground water issues.

Walker County commissioners expressed an interest in the switch. BVCOG is doing the work to find out how much additional money Walker County could bring.
