Local residents turned out for one cool event at the Arctic Wolf Ice Center.
The Monday program, titled 'One Heart-Warming Cause,' introduced the Brazos Valley Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation, an organization that supports the families of children who have been diagnosed with cancer.
The event featured music, entertainment, and lots of cute kids on ice.
Donations from this event are going to support families that have children with cancer that reside in the Brazos Valley. 100% of donations go directly to benefit these families. The group plans to offer emergency financial assistance, help with out-of-pocket expenses such as gasoline, parking, hotels, etc. Additional services will include regularly scheduled support group meetings, networking for families, and social events throughout the year.
"About four years ago, I had a friend of mine who lost a child at 25 months over Christmas," said Bill Mather, the managing partner of Arctic Wolf, "and I witnessed what happens to a family, and so when we heard about this we thought this would be a great time to help the kids."
