WATCHES AND WARNINGS

Suspicious Incident Ends Peacefully

By: KBTX Staff

Cops breathe a sigh of relief after a possible robbery call in Bryan turns into a welfare situation.

Around 4pm police surrounded the Brookwood shopping center on 29th street in Bryan. According to police, it was a tip about a problem with the manager at The Jewelry Store that sent them to the scene. They weren't sure what would greet them there, police thought at first it may be a robbery.

Employees at businesses in the area were told to stay inside because there was a hostage situation. Within 15 minutes all the employees were allowed to leave. The situation ended peacefully around 6:30pm.

Apparently the manager of The Jewelry Store was taken from the scene to the hospital. Police stress he was not physically injured, and probably went voluntarily for some type of evaluation.
